Introduction to Research and Publication

A one-hour brain-storming video session for beginners (not your usual community medicine lecture), that provides a practical understanding of the methods involved in conducting research and publishing its findings.

  • The process / steps of conducting research
  • Ethical committee approval- what is it and when is it needed ?
  • Plagiarism: how to assess and remove it. 
  • Why is it difficult to publish? Why is such a long time required? 
  • What is peer review? 
  • Why do journals charge fees?
  • How to identify predatory journals and avoid publication in them. 
  • How to make your research visible to other researchers. 
  • Abstracting/Indexing/DOI. 
  • Importance of having ORCID ID, ResearchGate, LinkedIn and Google Scholar.
  • How to use Good Research Project to enhance your CV ?
