The Good Research Project

Let passion and determination be the guide along the way and develop at your own pace that's comfortable.

What is The Good Research Project (TGRP)?

The Good Research Project (TGRP) is a medical research mentorship platform designed to help medical students and early-career doctors learn how to conduct, write, and publish research ethically and confidently. TGRP is a registered medical education entity in India, with students joining from across the world.

We focus on practical, beginner-friendly research training that goes beyond traditional theory-based teaching. Instead of only lectures, TGRP conducts monthly group and batch-based research activities, where students actively work on real research projects—from idea development to publication.

All research activities, mentorship, and collaboration are conducted through the TGRP app, enabling students to participate, learn, and publish research in a structured and supportive environment.

Our Mission

To make medical research easy to learn, even for beginners

To break research into simple, well-structured, and easy-to-understand topics

To provide affordable and accessible research mentorship for medical students and early-career doctors

To guide students in writing research manuscripts according to proper journal guidelines

To help students understand the journal selection process and choose the right journal for their work

To create awareness about predatory journals and prevent students from falling into unethical publishing practices

To empower students to confidently understand, evaluate, and contribute to evidence-based medicine

About The Founder

The Good Research Project (TGRP), a pioneering initiative in medical research education was established in May 2022 by Dr. Shreya Deoghare, MBBS, MD DVL (dermatology), our dedicated founder and CEO.

How TGRP Started: The Story
Behind Its Beginning

The First Conversations (2022)

In 2022, several medical students reached out to Dr. Shreya Deoghare on LinkedIn after seeing her posts about published research. Most were USMLE aspirants looking to strengthen their CVs for the residency match process. Despite coming from different colleges, they shared the same challenges—uncertainty about how to start research, lack of mentorship, and confusion around writing and publishing articles.

A Common Gap in Medical Education

Unlike medical students in the United States, who are exposed to research early in their training, medical education in India focuses largely on clinical practice, with research teaching remaining mostly theoretical. As a result, students interested in research often struggle to find mentors who can guide them through practical research, article writing, and ethical publication.

The First Research Batch (July 2022)

To address this gap, the first structured research batch was conducted in July 2022. Students actively worked on real research projects and successfully published their work within a few months.

Growth Through Student Referrals

Encouraged by these results, students began referring to their friends, colleagues, and juniors. TGRP soon expanded to Instagram, where the community continued to grow organically.

From a Small Initiative to a Growing Community

What began as a small mentorship effort evolved into The Good Research Project (TGRP)—a student-driven platform built on hands-on learning, ethical research, and real publication outcomes.

Why TGRP Is Thriving and
Loved by Students

Why TGRP Is Thriving and Loved by Students

End-to-End Research and Publication Support: TGRP goes beyond teaching research concepts. Many students start research but are unable to complete it, write manuscripts correctly, or navigate the publication process. At TGRP, students receive complete support at every stage—from research idea and study design to manuscript writing, journal selection, submission, revisions, and final publication. This outcome-driven mentorship delivers what students truly seek: a published research article.

Beginner-Friendly Research Mentorship: TGRP is designed for students with little or no prior research experience. Research is broken down into simple, structured, and easy-to-understand steps, making it approachable even for first-time researchers.Students learn by actively doing research, not by passively watching lectures, which builds confidence and long-term research skills.

Fully Virtual and Globally Accessible Model: TGRP follows a fully virtual research mentorship model, allowing students from across the world to participate from the comfort of their homes. This model enables collaborative research among students from different institutions and countries, without the limitations of location or time zones.

Designed for Busy Medical Students: Medical students and doctors often have limited time due to exams and clinical responsibilities. TGRP avoids long, theoretical, and time-consuming video courses that never lead to publication. Instead, research activities are efficient, focused, and collaborative, allowing students to complete meaningful research within a realistic timeframe.

Innovative Web-Based and AI-Based Research Designs: TGRP specializes in web-based and AI-based cross-sectional observational studies using publicly available online data. While not traditional clinical research, these study designs offer an excellent entry point for beginners to learn research methodology, participate actively, and publish peer-reviewed articles — especially valuable for research fellowships and residency applications, including USMLE aspirants.

Strong Team and Long-Term Mentorship Support: TGRP is backed by a dedicated team of research mentors, statisticians, and coordinators. Support continues even after course completion, lasting until the research work is successfully published. Students are guided through revisions, rejections, and resubmissions, ensuring they are never left unsupported.

Growth Through Student Referrals and Trust: Students who benefit from TGRP often refer their friends, juniors, and colleagues. This referral-driven growth reflects the trust students place in the mentorship model and the consistent results delivered by the TGRP community.

Monthly Research Batches

TGRP conducts monthly, structured research batches where students actively participate in real research projects. These batches cover multiple article types, including:

Upcoming research topics are regularly shared on our website, social media platforms, and WhatsApp groups, allowing students to choose areas that interest them.

Students who have their own clinical cases can also learn how to write and submit case reports with step-by-step mentorship.

Who can Join The Good Research Project (TGRP)?

TGRP is open to:
  • Undergraduate medical students
  • Interns and residents
  • Postgraduate trainees
  • Medical graduates and early-career doctors, from all over the world.

No matter where you plan to practice—USA, UK, Australia, or elsewhere—research fundamentals remain the same. TGRP is suitable for students who want to strengthen their CV for residency or fellowship applications, as well as for those who simply want to learn medical research and publication skills.
